On the 23 October 2016 at 4:40 A.M. a violent sex assault occurred on North Cumberland Street, around the 300 block.

A female was walking northbound on Cumberland when a male unknown to her grabbed her and sexually assaulted her. The incident lasted approximately a half hour until the female was able to flag down a passing motorist who called police. The female was transported to Thunder Bay Regional Hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspect is described as a male having a fair complexion and dark clothing, 5'8" with a medium build.
