Incident Date:
Monday, May 14, 2018 - 16:45
Location:
Thunder Bay
Date Published: 2018-05-14

On May 11th, 2018 at approximately 2:40 pm a vehicle was filmed driving north bound on Memorial Avenue with its hood up. The driver continued driving looking under the hood to see where he was going.

With the assistance of the media and the individuals that filmed this incident the driver of the vehicle chose to contact the Thunder Bay Police Service, to provide his side of the story.

The driver stated he had a mechanical failure resulting in his vehicle needing a boost. The car was boosted with a booster pack, which remained in the engine compartment. The hood was closed and he started to make his way towards a garage for repairs. The hood blew open and unfortunately he chose to continue to drive to the garage rather then pulling over and correcting the issue.

Luckily this event did not end in tragedy, as these is a truly unsafe condition, causing the drivers view to be obstructed.

If you ever find yourself in this position please pull over to the side of the road as soon as it is safe to do so.
