Police officers executed two search warrants in the city’s south side early Friday morning as a result of an ongoing drug investigation by the Thunder Bay Police Service, OPP, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and Anishinabek Police Service.

Warrants focused on residential locations in the 200 block of Simpson Street and 100 block of Bethune Street.

As a result of those searches police located a significant quantity of crack and crack cocaine with an estimated potential street value of $75,000CAD.

Police also seized a large quantity of Canadian currency believed to be upwards of $50,000.

Michael Anthony PRAHAY, 28, of Toronto, is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Trafficking Cocaine.

Tracey Lee-Ann DERUITER, 47, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance of the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.

Shawn Allan Thomas MAYBEE, 37, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking. Obstruct Peace Officer, and Probation Order Non-Compliance.

Courtney Earl ADAMS, 30, of Toronto, is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

All appeared in court Friday and were remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a call for service at a residence in the 200 block of Finlayson Street just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019.

Responding officers were allowed into the residence to check on the welfare of people inside. As a result a male at the residence was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking. Officers found the male was in possession of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine and a quantity of money.

The Thunder Bay Police Service’s drug unit, with assistance from the OPP, NAPS and APS, later executed a search warrant at the home. As a result of that search officers located about $70,000 in Canadian currency.

Police also seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine believed to have an estimated street value of about $53,000, and a quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of about $26,000.

Police continue to investigate the suspect’s possible affiliation with Toronto-area gangs.

Michael PRAHAY, 28, of Toronto, is charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

He appeared in court Wednesday and was remanded into custody with a future court date.
