TBPS officer on target at World Police and Fire Games in LA

Thunder Bay Police Service Sgt. Joe Dampier's archery accuracy led him to a pair of podium appearances at the 2017 World Police and Fire Games in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Sgt. Dampier was the lone representative for the Thunder Bay Police Service at the 2017 World Police and Fire Games. Sgt. Dampier received silver medals in the Target Archery and 3D Archery events. He also placed in a number of other events including:

· High Jump, fourth place
· Long Jump, fifth place
· 100 metre, ninth place

The World Police and Fire Games is an Olympic-style competition featuring 10,000 athletes representing firefighters, law enforcement, and officers from corrections, probation, border protection, immigration and customs from more than 65 countries.

The 2017 Games were held in Los Angeles from Aug. 7 to Aug. 16. Thunder Bay hosted the Can-Am Police-Fire Games in 2016.
