On Sept. 30 at approximately 5:36 p.m., police responded to reports of a body floating in the river behind the Thunder Centre on Fort William Road.

Upon arrival Thunder Bay Police Service officers MOORE and LORENTZ observed a female approximately 25 feet from the shoreline who was unresponsive.

They also observed a second individual splashing in the water approx 10 feet from the shore.

The male made it back to shore and informed the officers that he was attempting to assist the female who was unresponsive.

Officers swam out to the female who was obviously in distress.

The female regained consciousness and began resisting assistance from the officers.

The officers were able to convince her to not resist and in turn was assisted to the shore with the assistance of two fellow officers.

After officers saved her, the female was taken to the hospital by paramedics.
