Police pursuit ends in arrest, multiple charges

Thunder Bay Police Service officers arrested and charged a Thunder Bay man with various offences after he led police on an early morning pursuit.

On November 10, 2017 at 2:16 a.m. uniformed officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a white pickup truck travelling eastbound on Gore Street. The driver ignored the officer's attempt and a pursuit followed.

The driver collided with a fence, street sign and police cruiser before stopping the vehicle on Brock Street and fleeing on foot.

Human Trafficking Arrest

A 20-year-old Lindsey Ontario man is facing human trafficking charges following an investigation by the TBPS Criminal Investigations Branch which began on October 24, 2017.

Uniform Patrol Officers received information from a Thunder Bay social agency regarding a 26-year-old woman who had been the victim of human trafficking.

It is alleged that the woman had been trafficked throughout Ontario in October 2017. The victim, who is from southern Ontario, was provided assistance and is now safe.

Theft, Hit and Run Results in Arrests

Two Thunder Bay women are facing criminal charges following an incident last night in the city's north side.

TBPS uniform patrol officers responded to reports of a theft of beer from the Dawson Road Safeway last night just after 8:45 p.m.

It was reported that two females had taken beer from the store and fled in an erratic manner from the parking lot in a Kia Optima.

The vehicle was later involved in a hit and run collision with a pickup truck on West Arthur Street near Euclid Avenue.

Police investigating Minnesota Park stabbing

The Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating a stabbing that occurred at Minnesota Park on Minnesota Street at approximately 8 p.m.

The victim is an 18-year-old male.

He was taken to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The accused male was located a short time after and was arrested.

The investigation is continuing.

Serious Assault at Limbrick Street Complex - Suspect Arrested

A 23 yr old male who was taken to hospital after a serious assault around 3:20 p.m. on October 1, 2017 in the 500 block of North James Street remains in serious condition. Investigators have been in contact with his family.

The Thunder Bay Police Criminal Investigations Branch with the assistance of the public have now identified all individuals seen in the released surveillance photos.

As a result, members of the Intelligent Unit located one of the suspects just after 7:00 p.m. on October 3, 2017 in the Limbrick Street area.

Ashley Marie COLLINS Arrested

32 year old Ashley Marie COLLINS has been taken into custody to face three counts of Break & Enter to Commit Robbery and three counts of Breach of Probation.

A media release had been issued on March 14, 2017 stating that COLLINS was wanted in connection with the entry into an elderly woman's home in the city's south side on March 13th. Her two additional charges of Break and Enter to Commit Robbery and Breach of Probation for incidents which occurred at two other south side homes.

Sears Fire - Update

A 13 year old male was taken into custody just before 5:00 p.m. on February 28, 2017 in the front lobby of the Balmoral Police station in relation to the fires set at Sears on the weekend.

The youth appeared in court today on a charge of Mischief Under $5,000 and has been released with a future court date.

Child Pornography Arrest

The TBPS Cyber Crime Unit began an investigation in November 2016 after an online investigation of Child Pornography. The investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed at a residence in the 300 block of Southgate Court on January 25, 2017.

Officers seized eleven various computer related devices such as laptops, USB's and hard drives. Further examination revealed child pornography.

Transit Employees Assist Officer with Arrest

The Thunder Bay Police received as call for assistance at 7:30 p.m. on February 20, 2016 from Thunder Bay Transit when a male on one of the buses was bothering passengers by asking them for cigarettes and stating he had a knife. Although the male did not take out a knife, the passengers and bus driver were concerned for their welfare.
