Weapons Incident Arrest

Officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart located on Dawson Road just after 5:00 p.m. on April 13, 2018 to assist store security who were attempting to arrest a female for a theft.

When officers arrived they located the two security officers struggling with a female who was on the ground outside the store.

Once the female was detained by officers it was reported that when the suspect was confronted about the theft she stated she had a knife and threatened to stab the security officer.

A search of the female revealed a number of knives in her possession.

An Early Morning Break In Leads to Aggravated Assault Charges

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of County Boulevard just before 5:30 a.m. on April 7, 2018 for a disturbance.

The responding officers arrived to find a 57 year old male injured inside his home. Officers located two other males hiding in the residence. The male victim was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Center for medical attention. He reported to officers that two unknown males entered his residence and assaulted him.

Adam Joseph Goodwin, 31 years old has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Break & Enter.

Firearms and Drugs Seized

On the 29th of March, 2018 at approximately 11:15 am officers with the Guns and Gangs unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a multi-residential unit located on South Cumberland Street.

Weapons Update

A 21 year old male was arrested in relation to a March 21, 2018 weapons incident that occurred in the 400 block of George Street. He appeared before a Justice of the Peace by video this morning. 

Carlos Christofferson Jr. has been charged with aggravated assault and was remanded into custody.
 

Weapon call - UPDATED

On March 22, 2018 just after 2:00 p.m., the accused in a weapons incident on March 21, 2018 in the 400 block of George Street was arrested by Thunder Bay Police Service Uniform Patrol Officers.

A 21 year old, who cannot be named until he appears before court has been charged with aggravated assault and will be held in custody pending a show-cause bail hearing tomorrow.

Weapons call

Search warrant results in arrests

On the 21st of March 2018 at approximately 1 pm the Thunder Bay Police Drug Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act Search Warrant at a residence in the 100 Block of Bruce Street.

Officers seized approximately $15,000.00 in drugs which included cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl powder, fentanyl patches, hydromorphone pills and oxycodone pills along with $5,500.00 cash.

Facing a variety of charges are Daniel BLAIS 31 years and Earlene TAIT 38 years both of Thunder Bay.

Both have been remanded into custody.

Robbery Arrest

On March 21, 2018, Myles Wabano, a 22-year-old from Fort Hope was arrested in the 400 block of Waterloo Street by the Thunder Bay Police Community Response Team.

He has been charged with Robbery with Wounding, Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Threats to Kill in relation to the incident that occurred on March 14, 2018 at 1:00 a.m. in the parking lot of Tim Horton's located in the 300 block of Memorial Ave.

Myles Wabano appeared in court Thursday and has been remanded into custody. 

Arson Investigation

Police were called on March 18, 2018 to assist with a male that was acting irrationally at a Banning Street residence. Within minutes, the call was upgraded to a fire rescue incident.

On arrival Officers observed the house to be fully engulfed and assisted in evacuating and accounting for the tenants of the building as well as evacuating the neighbouring houses. 

The 28 year old male suspect was located a short time later on Bay Street.

Powder Fentanyl Seized

The TBPS Intelligence Unit executed a warrant on March 8, 2018 at north side residence and arrested two individuals who reside in the home for drug related charges.

The residence located in the 100 block of North Windemere Avenue was entered by officers at 4:30 p.m.

The occupants were arrested without incident and a search of the residence was conducted. Since a risk of exposure existed, biohazard gear was worn during the search given the belief that powdered Fentanyl was present. Fentanyl can be a highly dangerous drug when handled, especially in illicit circumstances.

Charles Casmey Arrested

A very extensive police investigation resulted in the arrest of 31 year old Charles Norman Casmey in relationship to a homicide that occurred on February 26, 2018.

Members of various units with the TBPS worked in conjunction with resources supplied by the Ontario Provincial Police to contain and evacuate the 500 block of McTavish Street last night. Eventually Charles Casmey was taken into custody when he surrendered to police at approximately 9:25 p.m.
