Motor Vehicle Collision

A motor vehicle collison occurred at 11:24 this morning at the corner of Dufferin Street and Secord Street.

The vehicle travelling east bound on Dufferin Street rolled onto is roof as a result of the collision, the driver remained in the vehicle until emergency services arrived.

The male driver was removed from the vehicle and walked to the Ambulance. He was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital and was medically cleared, uninjuried.

The driver of the other vehicle travelling north bound on Secord Street was uninjured.

The transit bus driver has been charged with Fail to Yield to Pedestrian in Crosswalk under the Highway Traffic Act.

BUS AND PEDESTRIAN COLLISION

The TBPS traffic unit is investigating a collision between a transit bus and a pedestrian that occurred around 10:10 a.m. on April 20, 2018.

A 17 year old male pedestrian was walking northbound through the crosswalk on Vickers Street when he was struck by the mirror of the bus that was turn left onto Donald Street from Vickers Street.

The TBPS traffic unit is investigating a collision between a transit bus and a pedestrian that occurred around 10:10 a.m. on April 20, 2018.

A 17 year old male pedestrian was walking northbound through the crosswalk on Vickers Street when he was struck by the mirror of the bus that was turn left onto Donald Street from Vickers Street.

The male was taken to hospital for medical attention.

The investigation is ongoing.

Motor vehicle Collision

Police received multiple calls to attend the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Memorial Avenue between two vehicles at approximately 11:50 a.m. on April 4th, 2018.

The initial collision occurred in the 600 block of Memorial Avenue between two vehicles. The driver of a brown car remained on scene and was not injured.

The second vehicle continues northbound on Memorial Avenue and then onto Fourth Street.

The driver lost control of the vehicle resulting in a second collision with a building on the Thunder Bay Transit property.

Temporary Road Closure

Thunder Bay Police Service is advising motorists of a road closure as a result of a non-injury single motor vehicle collision on Wardrope Avenue.

Wardrope Avenue will be closed from Superiorview Drive to Belton Road for approximately 8 hours to facilitate repair work by Thunder Bay Hydro.

Hit and Run Involving Cyclist

Hit and Run - Carrick Street at Central Avenue

On Friday Nov. 10 at approximately 2:30 p.m., a cyclist was travelling northbound on Carrick Street proceeding through a green light on Central Avenue.

At the time, a brown Chevy pickup was also travelling northbound on Carrick Street and turned right onto Central Avenue making contact with the cyclist and knocking him off his bicycle.

The cyclist sustained minor injuries and damage to his bike.

Driver involved in fatal collision with pedestrian charged

The investigation into the fatal Vehicle Pedestrian collision that occurred July 26th, 2017 at 6:30 pm on Algoma Street has been concluded.

This collision resulted in the death of Frank Tropea Sr, due to the injuries he sustained.

The driver of the motor vehicle has been charged under section 130 of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, for Careless Driving.
