New charges laid in homicide case

The TBPS Criminal Investigations Unit has laid new charges in relation to the Carl Avenue homicides from July 1, 2017.

Further investigation has led to the charge of First Degree Murder (235 (1) cc) against 41-year-old Garnet Jay LOON in the death of 22-year-old Kory Lee CAMPBELL. 19-year-old Kailee Kailynn LOON has also been charged with Assault (266 cc) in relation to the same incident.

Both Garnet and Kailee LOON remain charged on July 2, 2017 with Second Degree Murder in the death of 50-year-old Robert Lloyd GRAY which occurred at the same Carl Avenue address.

Brayden Bushby charged with Second-Degree Murder

Eighteen-year-old Brayden BUSHBY of Thunder Bay has been charged with Second Degree Murder - CC 235(1) in connection with the death of 34 year old Barbara KENTNER.

BUHSBY had been originally charged with Aggravated Assault on February 4, 2017 following an investigation by the TBPS into an alleged assault against Barbara KENTNER on January 28, 2017.

Syndicate Avenue North Homicide Accused Named

The name of the accused in the Syndicate Avenue North homicide and assaults has been identified as 35 year old Nazareth Alexander NELSON of Thunder Bay. He has been remanded into custody with a court date of October 13, 2017.

Syndicate Avenue North Homicide Update

The Criminal Investigations Branch of the TBPS has made an arrest in connection with a homicide and two assaults which occurred at a residence in the 200 block of Syndicate Avenue North.  Police were called to this location just before 11:30 a.m. on September 10, 2017.  A deceased male was discovered along with a 25 year old male and a 23 year old female who were victims of assaults.  All involved parties were known to each other. 

Carl Avenue Homicides Update: Arrests Made

The investigation into the Deaths of Robert Gray and Kory Campbell has lead to the arrest of two individuals..

Thunder Bay Police received information that the two accused persons were in Sioux Lookout. Investigators contacted Sioux Lookout OPP who were able to arrest these individuals without incident, at approximately 11:30 EST, 02 July 2017.They were transported back to Thunder Bay and have appeared before court via video today.

Fatal Stabbing

TBPS officer were dispatched the playground area of the Limbrick Housing Complex on report of an altercation that had occurred resulting a stabbing. When officers arrived they located two males that had been stabbed and assisted in having them transported to the hospital.

A 27 year old male was treated for non-life threatening injuries and has been released from the hospital. A 25 year old male succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin have been notified but the name is not being released at this time. The scene is being held by police, pending the results of the post mortem.

$50,000 Reward

The City of Thunder Bay is offering a total reward of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the death of William Wapoose.

William Darryl Wapoose , 32 years of Thunder Bay was located deceased on the bike path at the south end of Chapples Drive at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014.

Windsor Street Homicide - UPDATE #2

The Criminal Investigations Branch of the TBPS has charged 26 year old Clinton Nicholas NETEMEGESIC of Thunder Bay with 2nd Degree Murder in connection with the stabbing death of 18 year old Brent DONIO.

NETEMEGESIC turned himself into the Thunder Bay Police on the afternoon of July 13, 2016. He appeared in court today and has been remanded into custody.

The crime scene has been released by police. A postmortem examination of the deceased was conducted in Toronto today. Since this matter is now before the courts, results of the examination will not be released by police.

Windsor Street Homicide

Shortly after midnight on July 13, 2016 Thunder Bay Police and EMS responded to a disturbance at the Windsor Street Housing Complex. An altercation occurred with 2 males fighting an 18 year old male victim. The victim had serious trauma and was escorted to Thunder Bay Regional by paramedics where he was pronounced deceased.

33 Year old Pauline Kaye Cutfeet of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation has been charged with Second Degree Murder, Breach of Recognizance and Breach of Probation in the death of 38 year old Perry Robert Bois of Fort Hope. She is remanded in custody . Her next court date is 23 March 2016 by video.
