Josiah Begg Investigation - Update

The TBPS Criminal Investigation Branch was contacted this afternoon by the Chief Coroner of Ontario confirming that the male found deceased in the McIntyre River was 14 year old Josiah Begg. Josiah's family had been previously advised of these results by the Coroner.

The Thunder Bay Police is asking anyone with information relating to Josiah's disappearance and death to come forward and contact the police at 684-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.tipsubmit.com.

Robbery Suspects

The Thunder Bay Police are asking for the assistance of the public in identifying two suspects in a robbery that occurred on May 12, 2017 at a south side convenience store.

Indecent Act Reported

The Thunder Bay Police Service took a report of an incident act last evening in the Boulevard Lake area.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. a 31 year old female was jogging on Lyon Boulevard by Arundel Street when she noticed a maroon colored car moving slowing behind her. As the vehicle passed her with the windows down, she observed that the male driver had his genitals out of his pants.

South Core Robbery

A female was the victim of a robbery which occurred this morning near May and Simpson Streets just before 11:30 a.m. this morning. The victim sustained minor injuries in her struggle with the male suspect. The male was able to flee with the victim's purse.

Suspect description:
· MALE, 5'10" tall - 215 LBS with a heavier build
· Light skin with curly hair
· Wearing a blue Cleveland Indians ball cap with a red brim, sunglasses, a blue zip up hooded sweater with white strings and blue jeans

The TBPS has released a video of the robbery suspect.

Robbery Victim Injured

Thunder Bay Police were called to the scene of a robbery Sunday afternoon which occurred in a north side parking lot.

A 71 year old woman had just parked her car and was walking in a parking lot in the 800 block of Red River Road at approximately 1:42 p.m. yesterday when a male grabbed her purse. During a struggle, the woman fell to the ground. The suspect was then able to flee with the woman's purse.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Arrests Made For Two Robberies

The TBPS Community Response Team has arrested two males in connection with two recent Mac's store robberies.

A 13 year old male and 17 year old male were taken into custody at a Limbrick Street residence without incident last night.

The two youths have been charged with Robbery in connection with robberies on May 9 at the Edward Street North and Victoria Avenue East Mac's Stores.

The 13 year old has an additional charge of Breach of Probation.

Tammy Keeash Investigation Update

A post mortem examination was conducted in Toronto on May 10, 2017, regarding 17 year old Tammy Keeash. Tammy was found deceased in the Neebing McIntyre floodway near Chapples Park the evening of Sunday May 7, 2017.

The TBPS was contacted by Tammy's guardian on Sunday May 7 at 1:28 p.m. to ask that police check the welfare of Tammy at a specific address. Tammy could not be located at that location. Tammy was then reported as missing by the guardian at 2:23 p.m. that day.

The results of the post mortem examination indicate that Tammy's death is consistent with drowning.

TBPS Assists US Investigation

The TBPS helped American authorities preventing a potentially violent incident in a North Carolina High School on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.

A member of the TBPS Criminal Investigations Branch acted on information provided by a Thunder Bay resident regarding disturbing communications inside a web based chat room.

The information indicated that an individual was threatening to commit a violent act at a Union County High School in North Carolina.

Bay Street bar target of robbery

The Royalton Bar located a 248 Bay Street was the victim of an attempt robbery last night when a Caucasion male entered the bar and demanded money from the bartender.

The male had a knife in his possession at the time.

The bartender acted quickly and activated the alarm for police to attend. The male fled on foot prior to police arriving. He was described as being approximately 35 years of age and wearing a blue coat.

No one was injured in this incident.

The investigation is continuing.
