Release of Scene Near Lakehead University

The Thunder Bay Police Service has released the scene where a deceased person was found near Lakehead University on April 3, 2018.

The investigation is now being handled by the Coroner's Office.

Out of respect for the privacy of the family of the deceased, no futher information will be released by the Thunder Bay Police Service.

Arson Investigation update

Motor vehicle Collision

Date Published: 2018-04-04

Police received multiple calls to attend the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Memorial Avenue between two vehicles at approximately 11:50 a.m. on April 4th, 2018.

The initial collision occurred in the 600 block of Memorial Avenue between two vehicles. The driver of a brown car remained on scene and was not injured.

The second vehicle continues northbound on Memorial Avenue and then onto Fourth Street.

The driver lost control of the vehicle resulting in a second collision with a building on the Thunder Bay Transit property.

Sudden Death - Update

The deceased located in the wooded area south of the Lakehead University Fieldhouse has been identified as a 31 year old Thunder Bay man. Next of kin have been notified.

Investigators are waiting for the results of the post mortem. The area remains secured by police as the investigation continues.

Police are asking for anyone who may have been walking in this area over the past few days to contact police at 684-1200. 

Home Avenue Incident - UPDATE

A search warrant was executed at the Home Avenue residence at approximately 2:45 a.m. on April 2, 2018 by officers with the Thunder Bay Police Services Intelligence Unit.

Officers seized a restricted handgun and ammunition located in the residence.

Officers also seized a white powdered substance that will be forwarded to Health Canada for examination.

The residence has been released by police.

This investigation is ongoing. 

Firearms and Drugs Seized

On the 29th of March, 2018 at approximately 11:15 am officers with the Guns and Gangs unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a multi-residential unit located on South Cumberland Street.

Sudden Death Investigation Update

The Thunder Bay Police Service have released the scene of the sudden death investigation on North Cumberland Street.

The investigation is being handled by the Coroner's office.

Sudden Death Investigation

The Thunder Bay Police Service is on scene conducting a sudden death investigation in the 400 block of North Cumberland Street.

Weapons Update

Date Published: 2018-03-23

A 21 year old male was arrested in relation to a March 21, 2018 weapons incident that occurred in the 400 block of George Street. He appeared before a Justice of the Peace by video this morning. 

Carlos Christofferson Jr. has been charged with aggravated assault and was remanded into custody.

Weapon call - UPDATED

Date Published: 2018-03-22

On March 22, 2018 just after 2:00 p.m., the accused in a weapons incident on March 21, 2018 in the 400 block of George Street was arrested by Thunder Bay Police Service Uniform Patrol Officers.

A 21 year old, who cannot be named until he appears before court has been charged with aggravated assault and will be held in custody pending a show-cause bail hearing tomorrow.
