Police investigating serious collision

A middle aged man is in hospital in serious condition following a single motor vehicle collision at approximately 3:08 a.m. this morning.

The man was driving a late model Dodge Ram pickup truck north bound on Balmoral Street near Beverly Street when his vehicle left the road and rolled over following a collision with a hydro pole. Police, Fire and EMS responded to scene. The driver was freed from the vehicle by Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue and transported to hospital by Superior North EMS. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

Missing Person - Jeanette Tibishkogijig

Thunder Bay Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating missing person Jeanette TIBISHKOGIJIG.

She is described as being 24 years old, approximately 5'4", or 167 cm, and 165 pounds, or 75 kg, with brown hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen on September 1, 2017.

Sudden Death

On September 10, 2017 at approximately 11:26 am theThunder Bay Police Service received a 911 call in the area of Syndicate Avenue North to check the welfare of a male.

Police arrived on scene and located a deceased person as well as two other persons who had been assaulted.

The Thunder Bay Police Service's Criminal Investigations Branch is investigating.

Thunder Bay Police know that there are people with information that will assist the investigation and are asking them to come forward.

Officer Dragged by Car

A TBPS Uniform Patrol officer was dragged several feet by a car driven by a wanted Thunder Bay man.

A black Impala was stopped by a Uniform Patrol officer at Arthur Street and Syndicate Avenue just before noon on September 4, 2017.

The male driver had a warrant for failing to appear for a court date. When the officer attempted to make an arrest, the accused began to drive away, eventually dragging the officer approximately 20 feet. The officer received minor injuries and the accused and the car fled the scene.

Robbery Suspect to be Identified

On September 2, 2017 a male armed with knife robbed the Mac's Store at Oliver Road and High Street at approximately 4:20 p.m. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as:

· White male - age 20's to 30's
· Thin build
· Wearing a black and blue two tone jacket, black and blue in colour, a white hat, light blue jeans or grey jogging pants and black footwear

The suspect was last seen running westbound on John Street from High Street.

UPDATE: Suspicious Package

At approximately 2:00 pm, August 29, 2017, members of the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious package which located on the sidewalk beside the Thunder Bay Police Service Substation, 18 N Court Street. The suspicious package was a green metal ammunition box which appeared to be secured with a heavy duty padlock.

Impaired driver arrested after colliding with taxi cab, police vehicle

Just after 1 a.m. on August 25, 2017, Thunder Bay Police were called to the area of Limbrick Street and Kensington Drive due to a motor vehicle collision that occurred with a blue Mitsubishi sports utility vehicle and a taxi cab which had just dropped off a passenger.

The Mitsubishi stopped briefly then fled the scene.

Police were given a description of the vehicle and located it a short time later stopped at the intersection of Balmoral St at the Harbour Expressway. During the traffic stop the Mitsubishi rolled forward striking a police vehicle.

Robbery at Esso Gas Station

The Thunder Bay Police are asking for the public to assist in identifying the male responsible for an overnight robbery at the Esso Gas station located on John Street Road.

A male entered the store with his face covered and threatened the male employee with a box cutter while demanding money. The suspect left on a bicycle with a small quantity of cash.

The suspect is a male approximately 20 years of age. He is described as being 5'10" tall with brown eyes. He was wearing a black and grey hoodie with black sleeves and hood. He was wearing a black toque and face covering.

Police asking for public's help in south side assault

Thunder Bay Police Criminal Investigations Branch is seeking the public's assistance with regards to an assault that occurred in the area of Voilet Street and E. Victoria Avenue. 

Robbery Arrest

A 20 year old Thunder Bay man is in custody following a robbery of a convenience store in the 700 block of Franklin Street South last night.

A male armed with a bat entered Alley's Corner Variety store just before 7:30 on August 17, 2017.

He demanded money and then fled the scene. Information received by police led to the arrest of the accused just after 10:30 p.m. at a Moodie Street East apartment.

20 year old Kevin Junior MASAKEYASH has been charged with Robbery with an Offensive Weapon, Wearing a Disguise with Intent and Failing to Comply with a Recognizance.
