Update- Officer Involved Motor Vehicle Collision

On March 31st at approximately 10:30 AM, a Thunder Bay Police unmarked police cruiser was initially travelling north bound on Belrose Road when it stopped for city road workers who were patching potholes on the roadway. A Nissan car that was also travelling north bound rear-ended the stopped cruiser.

The investigation was conducted by the Thunder Bay Police- Traffic Unit. A 39 year old male who was driving the Nissan car was charged with the following:

1) Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act
2) Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway-No Insurance. 

Motor Vehicle Collision

Thunder Bay Police are investigating a two vehicle collision which occurred at 9:32 pm in the area of Conestoga and James St N. The head on collision was the result of a vehicle crossing the center line.

One driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. A male driver in his early 20's has been charged with impaired driving. All parties were wearing seat belts which prevented serious injuries.

 

Oliver Road MVC - Update

The 26 year old male who was involved in the single vehicle collision on Oliver Road on March 3, 2017 passed away on March 10, 2017 as a result of the injuries sustained in the incident. His name is being withheld upon the request of his family.

The TBPS Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate this collision.

UPDATE- Single Vehicle Collision on Oliver Road

On March third at approximately 1:44PM a silver 4 door Mazda 6 that was travelling eastbound on Oliver Road left the roadway and struck a tree on the north side of the highway. The driver of the vehicle is still currently in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre with serious injuries.

UPDATE: Single Vehicle Collision on Oliver Road

UPDATE/8:45 PM: ​Oliver Road is now open.

Oliver Road will be closed between Gratton Road and Mapleward Road due to a single vehicle collision on Oliver Road.

At approximately 1:44 PM a single motor vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the north side of Oliver Road. The only occupant was the driver who was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

Unlicensed Driver Turns Into Car Doing 70 km/hr On Harbor Expressway

At about 7 p.m. last evening (25 February 26, 2016) police, Fire Services and EMS responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Harbor Expressway and Golf Links Rd.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged. The first officer on scene was on route to another call and was very close by when the call came in. Upon arrival this officer saw that one of the vehicles was on fire and used the fire extinguisher from the Forensics truck to begin to control the flames until Fire services arrived.

Traffic was disrupted for about an hour.
