Motor vehicle Collision

Police received multiple calls to attend the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Memorial Avenue between two vehicles at approximately 11:50 a.m. on April 4th, 2018.

The initial collision occurred in the 600 block of Memorial Avenue between two vehicles. The driver of a brown car remained on scene and was not injured.

The second vehicle continues northbound on Memorial Avenue and then onto Fourth Street.

The driver lost control of the vehicle resulting in a second collision with a building on the Thunder Bay Transit property.

Police Involved Motor Vehicle Colision

On March 31st at approximately 10:30 AM, Thunder Bay Police unmarked police cruiser was travelling north bound on Belrose Road when it stopped for city road workers who were patching potholes on the roadway. A Nissan car that was also travelling north bound rear ended the cruiser.

Oliver Road MVC - Update

The 26 year old male who was involved in the single vehicle collision on Oliver Road on March 3, 2017 passed away on March 10, 2017 as a result of the injuries sustained in the incident. His name is being withheld upon the request of his family.

The TBPS Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate this collision.

UPDATE- Single Vehicle Collision on Oliver Road

On March third at approximately 1:44PM a silver 4 door Mazda 6 that was travelling eastbound on Oliver Road left the roadway and struck a tree on the north side of the highway. The driver of the vehicle is still currently in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre with serious injuries.

UPDATE: Single Vehicle Collision on Oliver Road

UPDATE/8:45 PM: ​Oliver Road is now open.

Oliver Road will be closed between Gratton Road and Mapleward Road due to a single vehicle collision on Oliver Road.

At approximately 1:44 PM a single motor vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the north side of Oliver Road. The only occupant was the driver who was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

Arthur Street & Edward Street MVC

The Thunder Bay Police are currently investigating a collision between two vehicles, one of which was parked, just before 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Arthur Street and Edward Street.

The driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries and there is major damage to both vehicles. Traffic lights at the intersection have been affected and Arthur Street is expected to be shut down for a few hours in order to conduct an investigation into the collision. Motorists are urged to avoid the area as traffic will be slow going.

Investigation is ongoing.

 

Tractor Trailer Runs Off Dawson Road

Police, Fire and EMS responded to a single motor vehicle collision this morning at about 6:30 a.m at the intersection of Dawson Road at Shirley Road.

An eastbound tractor-trailer unit had been driven off the road and into the south side ditch. Both the 50 year old male driver and his male passenger were transported to T.B.R.H.S.C. with minor injuries.

Police Cruiser Hit

At about 10:40 a.m. this morning, two officers were doing a routine traffic stop on Memorial Ave near Third Ave. One officer had exited the police cruiser to issue a ticket to the driver of the vehicle that they had stopped, and was walking back to the cruiser when he spotted an approaching blue Dodge pick-up truck. The officer believed he was going to be struck, so jumped between the cruiser and the stopped car to get out of the way. The pick-up truck actually struck the stopped cruiser, pushing it forward and striking the officer.
