Police board approves 2018 proposed budget

THUNDER BAY, Ont. --- The city’s police board has approved the service’s 2018 proposed budget, which will now head to city hall for further consideration.  

Thunder Bay Police Service A/ Chief Sylvie Hauth on Tuesday presented the proposed $40.7-million 2018 operational budget to the Thunder Bay Police Service Board, which is a one per cent increase over 2017. The proposal also featured a capital budget of $907,200, a $124,800 reduction from 2017.

TBPS moves forward with Diversity Initiative

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The city’s police service board has given the green light for the department to move forward with a new, and possibly permanent, diversity initiative.

The board reviewed a presentation highlighting the goals of the Diversity Initiative for Thunder Bay Police Service Monday, and a resolution to support it passed unanimously. The proposal outlined a major undertaking not meant to be treated as a short-term project.
