Police arrested a Thunder Bay man for impaired driving after concerned citizens called 911 after witnessing the suspect’s erratic behaviour Tuesday afternoon.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Caroline Street at about 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14 following a 911 report about a male possibly operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.

When police arrived in the area they observed a grey SUV with the suspected impaired male in the driver’s seat.

Police identified the suspect and observed several signs he was impaired by drug.

The male was taken into custody and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

Replica firearms were observed in the suspect’s vehicle.

At the TBPS headquarters, the suspect was evaluated by the Drug Recognition Expert. The conclusion of that evaluation confirmed the suspect was impaired by drug.

Andrew Allan POST, 31, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired
• Failure to Comply with Probation Order x 2

He appeared in bail court on Wednesday, March 15 and was released with conditions and a future appearance date.
