Police are holding two scenes in the Cumming Street area amid the ongoing investigation into a reported Wednesday afternoon shooting.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were initially dispatched to the 200-block area of Cumming Street just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, following reports of an injured male and a possible shooting incident.

Paramedics with Superior North EMS transported the injured male to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment of those injuries. The injures are considered serious. The exact extent of his injuries is unknown but are not believed to be life-threatening.

A significant police presence in the area has been reduced as the investigation focuses on specific areas of interest. Members of the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Units are now involved in the continued investigation.
