Police have laid additional charges amid an ongoing investigation into luring, voyeurism, and possession of child pornography.

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit were initially made aware on Monday, May 1 of a local Internet user who was suspected of uploading files consistent with child exploitation.

Further investigation confirmed the files in question were consistent with child pornography. Further follow ups led investigators to identify a local address and a male suspect.

Cyber Crime Unit officers obtained and executed a search warrant, with assistance from members of the Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit, at a residential address in the 500 block of Halton Street on May 10, 2022.

The search led to the seizure of multiple electronic devices.

A male suspect turned themselves in to police on the morning of Tuesday, May 16, and was charged with Possession, Distribution, and Accessing Child Pornography.

On Monday, Aug. 28, as a result of continued investigation, Cyber Crime Unit officers moved forward with additional charges against the male suspect.

William Joseph Daniel HUBBARD, 35, of Thunder Bay, faces additional charges of:

• Luring Person Under 16 Years of Age by Means of Telecommunication
• Make Sexually Explicit Material Available to Person Under 16 Years of Age
• Making Child Pornography x 2
• Voyeurism

He appeared in bail court on Tuesday, Aug. 29 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
