Incident Date

The Age Friendly Elder Abuse Prevention Committee, part of the Age Friendly Thunder Bay organization, with support from members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Crimes Against Seniors Division, has developed a handbook and resource guide for older adult safety.

The guide was officially released to the public earlier this week.

The booklet is a proactive approach at senior safety. Instead of reacting to an incident in which seniors are victimized, the booklet aims to help protect seniors from being victimized and give them control back of their own lives.

The guide can be used by seniors, family members, or anyone who may come in contact with older adults. It is a valuable educational and training tool that will help people recognize elder abuse and what resources are available to them.

The guide is available to everyone in the Thunder Bay district and Northwestern Ontario area.

The guide book is available to be downloaded on the Age Friendly Thunder Bay website https://agefriendlythunderbay.ca/

As well as the Thunder Bay Police website. Copies can also be obtained if you email agefriendlythunderbay@outlook.com

Or pick one up in the front lobby of Thunder Bay Police at 1200 Balmoral St, Thunder Bay.
