Arrest made regarding the fail to remain collision at Ford St and Isabella St on August 21st

On the morning of August 27th, 2018, the Thunder Bay Police Traffic Unit made an arrest in regards to the fail to remain motor vehicle collision which occurred at Ford Street at Isabella Street on August 21st, 2018. The collision left a 60 year old Thunder Bay male with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A 57 year old Thunder Bay female was taken into custody at the Thunder Bay Police Station this morning and will appear in court today. The female has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident - causing bodily harm, contrary to the Criminal Code and a stop sign violation contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The Thunder Bay Police received numerous tips from the public in regards to this collision and would like to thank the public for their assistance.

Fail to remain motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle

On August 21st, 2018, at approximately 1220hrs, Thunder Bay Police were dispatched to the intersection of Isabella Street at Ford Street for a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a SUV. Upon arrival, officers found that the SUV had fled the scene.

The initial investigation has revealed that a dark coloured SUV was travelling west bound on Isabella Street and failed to stop for the stop sign at Ford Street, colliding with the motorcycle within the intersection. The SUV stopped following the collision and the female driver exited the vehicle to check on the male motorcyclist. The motorcyclist had sustained obvious injuries. Shortly after checking on the male driver of the motorcycle, the female driver of the SUV returned to her SUV and fled the scene west bound on Isabella Street, leaving the male driver of the motorcycle injured and lying on the roadway.

The female driver is described as a blonde female who was wearing a colourful shirt at the time of the collision. The SUV is expected to have some damage to the front passenger side bumper area.

The male driver of the motorcycle, a 60 year old Thunder Bay male, was cared for at the scene by individuals who were passing by and transported to hospital by ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The Thunder Bay Police Traffic Unit is now continuing with the investigation. Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a dark coloured SUV with damage to the front end passenger side bumper and to call the Traffic Unit at 684-1276 or Crimestoppers if they have any information that would assist in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in this collision.
