The driver of a tractor trailer faces multiple Highway Traffic Act charges after the vehicle collided with a railway overpass.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on James Street near Gore Street at about 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 2.
Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service Traffic Unit attended and conducted the investigation.
The tractor trailer was carrying a shipping container, which struck the bottom of the overpass.
No injuries were reported and the overpass was inspected before being deemed safe.
The roadway was closed for an extended period of time as a safety precaution but has since reopened.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Police Service also responded and provided assistance.
A 22-year-old from Winnipeg is charged with several Highway Traffic Act offences, including Careless Driving, Unsecure Load, and Overheight Vehicle.
