Police arrested and charged a Toronto man Thursday with drug-trafficking related offences following an investigation into a possible home takeover on the city’s northside.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Pearl Street just before 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, to check on the welfare of a resident.

An investigation revealed a number of people inside the home were likely unwanted. The investigation also found evidence that the home may have been used for drug trafficking.

Police entered the dwelling to inform those inside they were unwelcomed. During this time officers observed evidence of drug trafficking.

An individual was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, nearly $2,200 CAD, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The accused was arrested at the scene without further incident.

Jaelen Aushe SANDIFORD, 25, of Toronto, is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

He appeared in bail court Thursday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
