Two Toronto men face drug-related charges after police found them involved in a fight on the city’s south side Monday night.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were in the area of Donald Street near Syndicate Avenue just before midnight on Monday, Aug. 17 when they observed what appeared to be a fight between two individuals.

The officers intervened to break up the fight. But while speaking with the two individuals involved, and investigating whether an assault had taken place, one male fled on a bike southbound on Syndicate Avenue.

Police caught up to the male after a foot pursuit, and completed their arrest after a brief struggle. An investigation found the male was in possession of a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Meanwhile, police learned the other involved male was in possession of a concealed weapon. Further investigation found the male was also in possession of a significant quantity of suspected cocaine, paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, and suspected Oxycodone pills.

The cocaine seized totaled nearly 175 grams.

Danious Waden AARONS, 20, of Toronto, is charged with Possession of Cocaine and Obstruct Peace Officer.

Markeal SWEET, 25, of Toronto, is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

Both appeared in bail court on Tuesday, Aug. 18. AARONS was released with a future appearance date while SWEET was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
