Police arrested a male and charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder following an incident on the city’s north side Saturday afternoon.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the 100 block of Cumberland Street South just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30 following reports of a disturbance.

Police learned that a male had been the victim of a serious assault at an apartment. The victim was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment of their injuries. The exact extent of those injuries are unknown at this time.

Members of the Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Units have become involved in the ongoing investigation.

As a result of continued investigation, a male suspect was identified, taken into custody, and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

Police continue to hold a scene in the area.

Cory Lynden FOX, 31, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Attempt to Commit Murder
• Aggravated Assault

He appeared in bail court in Thunder Bay on Sunday, Oct. 1 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
