Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of Simpson Street just after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4 following reports of a break and enter that had just occurred.

When officers arrived they found evidence that someone had broken into the business. Broken glass and blood was found at the scene.

Officers checked the area around the business and located more blood.

Later that morning, just before 6:30 a.m., officers were waved down by a female in the 400 block of George Street. The female led officers to a location in the 100 block of May Street South where someone was said to be in distress and in need of help.

Officers located a male bleeding and in need of medical attention. Paramedics with Superior North EMS arrived to provide medical assistance and transported the male to the Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre for further treatment.

Further investigation revealed the male in medical distress was the suspect who broke into the Simpson Street business, and was in possession of stolen items from that break and enter.

Richard Terrance BEARDY, 27, of Thunder Bay is charged with Break and Enter, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

He appeared in bail court on Thursday, Dec. 5 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
