Police are requesting public assistance amid a sexual assault investigation involving a youth, as investigators now believe there is a possibility of other victims who have not come forward.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Child Abuse Unit began an investigation into a possible sexual assault against a youth in August 2022. Police learned of allegations that a 20-year-old Thunder Bay man used social media to meet a youth online, supplied the youth with alcohol and then sexually assaulted the youth.

The victim is known to the accused, however, in an effort to protect the identity of the victim police are not releasing further details.

Krishtian Lynne HIMES (AKA HYMES), 20, of Thunder Bay, was arrested and appeared in bail court on Feb. 14, 2023, on charges of:

• Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 Years of Age
• Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16 Years of Age
• Luring a Person Under 18 Years of Age by Means of Telecommunication

As a result of continued investigation by members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit, HYMES now faces charges of:

• Possession of Child Pornography
• Accessing Child Pornography
• Possess for the Purpose of Distribution of Child Pornography

Upon further review of evidence, police believe HIMES regularly attempted to make contact with youths through various social media platforms.

Police are now requesting the public’s assistance as they continue to investigate the possibility that other youths have been victimized.

We ask that people who suspect they may have been targeted to check their social media accounts and check for interactions with the above-mentioned usernames.
