The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Traffic Unit continues to conduct focused enforcement along known, and ongoing, problem areas on Dawson Road.

On Friday, Aug. 25 and Saturday, Aug. 26, TBPS Traffic Unit officers conducted a joint forces traffic safety blitz with members of the TBPS’s Primary Response Branch and members of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO).

Officers conducting the traffic safety blitz were focused on various issues involving commercial and passenger motor vehicles travelling along Dawson Road, west of Hazelwood Drive.

Of particular concern is the ongoing issues of commercial motor vehicles following too closely. Officers continue to utilize drones to efficiently spot these issues.

A total of 48 charges were laid against commercial motor vehicle motorists for following too closely. Police also ticketed a number of commercial and passenger motor vehicle drivers for speeding infractions.

The Thunder Bay Police Service would like to thank all motorists who continue to drive in accordance with the rules of a road, sober and free of distractions.
