A Thunder Bay man faces charges of aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm following a Friday night incident on the city’s north side.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to a residential address in the 300 block of Bay Street just after 11:10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 following reports of an assault that had just occurred.

Paramedics were at the scene prior to officers arriving.

When police arrived, they located a male victim who appeared to have injuries consistent with a recent assault.

Police located a suspect at the scene and placed him under arrest following a brief struggle. Once the arrest was complete the accused was transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Major Crime Unit became involved in the ongoing investigation.

A second suspect, a 15-year-old male, was also identified as a result of continued investigation. The youth, who was already in custody for breaching a release condition, was notified in the morning hours of Tuesday, Oct. 10 that additional assault charges had been laid.

The victim suffered serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.

Terrell Jarome Lewis BAXTER, 18, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Aggravated Assault
• Assault Causing Bodily Harm
• Obstruct Peace Officer

A 15-year-old male from Marten Falls First Nation is charged with:

• Aggravated Assault
• Obstruct Peace Officer
• Failure to Comply with Probation Order

Both accused remain in custody with a future appearance date.
