On Saturday, Dec. 15 Jonathan YELLOWHEAD, 22, of Fort Hope, Ont., appeared in court in Thunder Bay and was formally charged with second-degree murder and breach of probation in connection with the death of 17-year-old Braiden Jacob.

He has been remanded into custody with a future court date of Tuesday, Dec. Dec. 18, 2018.

The Thunder Bay Police Service has arrested and charged a 22-year-old male in connection with the homicide of 17-year-old Braiden Jacob.

Working in conjunction with Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service officers, an arrest was made shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018. The accused was transported to Thunder Bay where he remains in custody.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 to face a charge of second-degree murder. The identity of the accused is being withheld pending that court appearance.

On Sunday, Dec. 9 shortly after 11:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to the southern portion of Chapples Park after a passerby saw what they believed to be a body.

A post-mortem examination took place in Toronto on Thursday, Dec. 13. The results of the examination confirmed the body discovered was that of Braiden, who had been reported missing earlier.
