The Thunder Bay Police Service has released a scene connected to a June 19 homicide investigation in the 300 block of Dawson Street.

The scene was released following the completion of the post-mortem examination of the victim.

Police have identified the victim as Lydia Rose JACOB, 47, of Thunder Bay.

UPDATE: Accused in Friday homicide formally charged with Second-Degree Murder

Police charged a 21-year-old woman connected to a June 19 homicide with Second-Degree Murder.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to a residential address in the 300 block of Dawson Street following reports of a serious assault just before 2 p.m. on Friday, June 19.

Paramedics with the Superior North EMS were also dispatched due to reports the individual had sustained serious, and possibly life-threatening, injuries. When officers arrived they located a female who appeared to be the victim of a recent assault.

Despite life-saving efforts by police and paramedics, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Shortly after arriving on scene officers located and arrested a suspect.

Lyrina JACOB, 21, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Second-Degree Murder. She appeared in bail court on Saturday, June 20 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of Friday, June 26.

A post-mortem examination for the victim is scheduled to take place today in Thunder Bay. Police continue to hold a scene in the 300 block of Dawson Street. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
