Honouring Our Stories

Honouring Our Stories is an art-based community project that centres the resilience and dignity of women surviving sexual violence. The aim of the project is to deepen understanding and engage public and police in a joint effort to address sexual violence in Thunder Bay. Several Thunder Bay Police officers participated in this project.


New Beginnings Spring Powwow

The Thunder Bay Police Service had a booth at the New Beginnings Spring Powwow in the Victoriaville mall. There officers and citizens from the service's Zone Watch program met some of the other participants of the Spring Powwow.


Stand Up & Speak Up

Stand Up and Speak Up is an annual walk that starts and ends at Confederation College. The march aims to show unity against discrimination and racism, while at the same time spreading awareness about mental health. When participants returned to the college, they were encouraged to meet new people and share those meetings on social media using the hashtag #standupTBAY


Goodwill Barbecue

The Thunder Bay Police Service hosted a barbecue for players participating in the All-Native Goodwill Hockey Tournament. Volunteers from Union Gas and the Thunder Bay Police Service's Zone Watch program assisted. The afternoon event allows officers and volunteers to meet and feed hundreds of visiting athletes and their families.

Not part of any organized engagement event, this photo was captured and shared by a Thunder Bay residents who spotted an officer taking a break to play some road hockey with some youths.
