Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a two-vehicle collision that took place on the city’s north side Wednesday evening.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the motor-vehicle collision at the corner of Fort William Road and Water Street just after 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The collision involved a pick-up truck being driven by a 31-year-old female and an SUV driven by a 17-year-old female. The two drivers, and a three-year-old child passenger of the pick-up truck, were all transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further assessment and treatment of their injuries.

The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

As a result of the ongoing investigation by members of the TBPS’s Traffic Unit, police learned the pick-up truck was being driven southbound in the centre lane of Water Street when the SUV turned left from Fort William Road.

The driver of the pick-up truck was aware of the SUV coming into her path and made attempts to avoid a collision. The two vehicles collided despite those efforts.

The SUV came to rest in a ditch between Fort William Road and the railway tracks. The pick-up truck remained in the southbound lane.

The investigation continues and charges are pending.
