Officers Recieve GG Commendations for Bravery
Five Thunder Bay Police Service officers have received official commendations of great merit from the Governor General of Canada for the selfless, life-saving bravery they showed during a February 2018 incident.
Officers receiving the official commendations are:

Deputy Gets Dunked
Swearing In New Officers
The Thunder Bay Police Service proudly swore in eight new constables. It was one of the single largest intakes of new officers in the service's history. Welcomed to the service as new constables were:
- Cst. Connor Dunnill
- Cst. Ryan Dougherty
- Cst. Nathan Gunn
- Cst. Robert Jarzebinski
- Cst. Adam Josefchak
- Cst. Micah Ledua
- Cst. Brenna Pugh
- Cst. Tanner Symonds
Camp Loon
In July a group of Thunder Bay Police Service officers volunteered to take part in Camp Loon, a leadership and life-skills training camp for youth living in Ontario’s far north. The camp is an initiative by the Junior Canadian Rangers Program, who graciously allowed the officers to participate. Early in August the Thunder Bay Police Service released a video on social media to better explain to the public the importance of this initiative.
Deputy Chief Sworn In
Meet Thunder Bay's newest Deputy Chief of Police. At a special swearing in ceremony at the Thunder Bay Court House, the city was formally introduced to now Deputy Chief Ryan Hughes.
Deputy Chief Hughes has been in policing since 1998. His extensive experience includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and 21 years of policing experience, including a range of supervisory and fields operations roles with both the York Regional Police and Thunder Bay Police Service.
