Man charged with aggravated assault, assaulting police officer

A 28-year-old man was arrested after police responded to a stabbing incident on the city’s north side.
 
Thunder Bay Police Service Primary Response officers were dispatched to the area of Bay and Lake streets on the evening of Saturday, September 26, after receiving reports of an injured individual.
 
A male victim sustained injuries consistent with an assault and stabbing that are not considered life threatening. The victim was transferred to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
 
Responding officers located a male suspect at a nearby address. The suspect was arrested.
 
While in police custody, the suspect assaulted an officer.
 
Sheldon WABOOSE, 28, is charged with the following: 
• Aggravated Assault 
• Forcible Confinement 
• Assault Peace Officer 
• Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm 
• Failure to Comply with Probation Order x2
 
The accused individual was remanded into custody following an initial court appearance.

TB26040123 A Thunder Bay Police Service Primary Response Unit and Traffic Unit investigation has led to charges. Officers with the Primary Response Unit were dispatched to the Memorial Avenue and Central Avenue area on October 4, 2026, at approximately 7:20 PM in response to a motor vehicle collision. On scene, officers located a pickup truck and minivan with severe damage. One of the drivers was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Thunder Bay Police Service Traffic Unit became involved in the investigation. As a result of the investigation, a Thunder Bay resident is facing the following charges: • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs • Dangerous operation The unnamed accused’s charges have not been read in court as they have been released under an undertaking with a future court date. The investigation into the matter remains ongoing.

The Special Investigations Unit announced it has closed its investigation into an incident involving Thunder Bay Police Service officers that occurred in June 2026. The SIU found no basis to believe that any officer committed a criminal offence and concluded their investigation with no further process. With the conclusion of the SIU investigation, the Thunder Bay Police Service will now commence its required administrative review in accordance with Section 81 of the Community Safety and Policing Act. The purpose of the administrative investigation is to review member conduct, the policing provided, and procedures all as they relate to the incident. This administrative review will be reported to the Thunder Bay Police Service Board upon completion. A Thunder Bay Police Service Primary Response Unit investigation has resulted in multiple charges. Officers with the Primary Response Unit and Operational Support Unit were dispatched to a business in the Court Street South area at approximately 10:05 AM on September 25, 2026, in response to a weapons call for service. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived. A search of the area led to the suspect being located and arrested. A search of the accused led to the seizure of two-edged weapons. As a result of the investigation 24-year-old Silas KING from Thunder Bay is facing the following charges: Uttering threats – damage property Mischief under $5,000 Resist peace officer Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose The accused was remanded into custody following their first court appearance.
