Drug trafficking investigation leads to charges

A Thunder Bay Police Service drug trafficking investigation has led to the seizure of suspected illegal drugs and an arrest.
 
Officers with the Intelligence Unit began the investigation in February 2026, after receiving reports of drug trafficking in Thunder Bay.
 
On March 5, 2026, officers located and arrested two suspects on Simpson Street.
 
Suspected illegal drugs, cash, and other items associated with drug trafficking were seized.
 
Officers also conducted a search at a property on Memorial Avenue
 
During the search, a loaded handgun, suspected crack cocaine, cocaine, hydromorphone, and oxycodone were seized.
 
In total approximately 220 grams of suspected cocaine, 1900 hydromorphone pills and 400 oxycodone pills were seized.
 
The total estimated street value of the drugs seized is over $63,000.
 
As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Jermaine WHITE from Etobicoke is facing the following charges:
 
• Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine 
• Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (two counts) 
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 
• Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm 
• Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition 
• Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm 
• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (three counts) 
• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm 
• Unauthorized possession of weapon
 
The accused remains in custody with a future court date.
 
A Thunder Bay resident has also been charged with traffic in Schedule 1 substance – cocaine.
 
The accused from Thunder Bay has been released on an undertaking.

TB26032479 Investigation update The Thunder Bay Police Service has updated an ongoing assault investigation to a sudden death investigation. Officers were dispatched to the area of the 1000 block of Dawson Road in the afternoon of August 15, 2026. A female was located and transported to a local hospital with injuries. The Major Crime Unit became involved in the ongoing investigation. Investigators believe there is no risk to public safety at this time. No other information is available at this time. Updates will be provided when they become available.

TB26032582 A Thunder Bay Police Service investigation has resulted in charges. Officers with the Primary Response Unit were dispatched to the 400 block area of Edward Street area around 3:15 AM on Sunday, August 16, 2026 in response to an alarm at a retail location. Officers arrived within minutes and observed that multiple retail locations had been damaged and the suspects had fled. As a result of the ongoing investigation, a person was located and arrested. A 14-year-old was charged with Break and Enter, and Theft Under $5,000. The accused was released with a future court date. The identity of the accused cannot be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

TB26030639 A Thunder Bay Police Service Primary Response Unit Investigation has led to multiple charges. On August 3, 2026, officers were dispatched to a business in the Memorial Avenue area in response to a report regarding an assault. Two suspects had left the scene prior to officers arriving. A search of the area led to the suspects being located and arrested. As a result of the investigation, 26-year-old Joseph MACHIMITY of Thunder Bay is facing the following charges: • Robbery with violence • Fail to comply with probation order As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Joshua WAPOOSE from Thunder Bay is facing the following charges: • Robbery with violence • Fail to comply with probation order Both of the accused were remanded into custody following their first court appearance.
