Suspect arrested after police respond to weapons call

A 25-year-old man faces weapons charges after police were called for an afternoon incident yesterday.


Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Cumming Street on Tuesday, July 8, after receiving a report of a weapons incident.


Responding officers received information that a male suspect had brandished an apparent handgun at a female victim, while also striking her with the weapon.


The involved individuals had left the scene prior to the arrival of officers. The victim was located nearby.


A short time later the suspect was located by officers and taken into custody.


The investigation resulted in a replica firearm being seized.


Donald GREEN, 25, is charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant.


The accused appeared in court on Wednesday and has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

The sooner police are notified, the greater the chances of catching the suspects.
