UPDATE: Stolen vehicle recovered, investigation ongoing

A vehicle that had been stolen earlier this morning has been found, and police are continuing to investigate.

Thunder Bay Police Service Primary Response officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Memorial Avenue at about 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, after receiving reports of a robbery that had occurred.

 

A male suspect approached occupants of a parked vehicle and brandished an apparent firearm before driving away with the vehicle.

 

The vehicle had been observed by responding officers but took off at a high rate of speed. Police did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety. The vehicle was subsequently involved in a collision but fled the scene.

 

The vehicle has since been located.

 

The Break, Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit is involved in the ongoing investigation.

TB26018737 The Thunder Bay Police is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 71-year-old Peter ELCHUK. Peter was last seen on May 19, 2026, in the area of Dawson Road around 5:00 PM. He suffers from dementia, and there is concern for his wellbeing. ELCHUK is described as a Caucasian man standing 5'7", with grey hair, and a grey goatee. He was last seen wearing dark grey jeans and a black jean jacket. Police and family are asking residents in the Dawson Road area and surrounding neighbourhoods to check their properties, sheds, garages, vehicles, and any surveillance or doorbell camera footage for possible sightings of Peter. TB26017508 A Thunder Bay Police Service drug trafficking investigation has led to multiple charges. On May 11, 2026, officers with the Intelligence Unit with the assistance of the Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit and the Emergency Task Unit searched a home on Clavet Street. During the search, officers seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking. As a result of the investigation, 55-year-old Lynda MCCALLUM from Thunder Bay is facing the following charges: • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 • Traffic in Schedule 1 substance – cocaine • Failure to comply with release order The accused was remanded into custody following their first court appearance. The investigation remains ongoing.

Kelsey was last seen on May 9, 2026, around noon in the Algoma Street North area. He is described as an Indigenous male, with a slim build standing roughly 5’ 8”, with long black hair that is normally tied back, a goatee-style beard, brown eyes, with acne scars on his face. ANDERSON was last seen wearing a black and grey baseball cap, a tan hoodie, black pants, and white and grey sneakers.
