Primary Response Unit investigation leads to assault charge

A Thunder Bay Police Service Primary Response Unit investigation has resulted in an assault charge.


Officers were dispatched to the Inglewood Crescent area on July 18, 2026, in response to a call for service.


On scene officers located and seized an edged weapon.


Further investigation led to a suspect being identified, located, and arrested.


A search of the suspect led to the seizure of quantities of suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, and oxycodone.


As a result of the investigation, 48-year-old Adam THOMPSON of Thunder Bay is facing the following charges:

• Assault with a weapon

• Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

• Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking 

• Fail to comply with probation order


The accused was remanded into custody following their first court appearance. 

Update: Thunder Bay Police Service sudden death investigation leads to second-degree murder charge

TB25050184 A Thunder Bay Police Service investigation into a sudden death on the city’s north end has resulted in a second-degree murder charge. On December 25, 2025, officers responded to a 911 call regarding a sudden death on Regent Street. On scene officers located a deceased man. The Major Crime Unit became involved in the investigation. On July 30, 2026, officers arrested a suspect at the Thunder Bay Jail. As a result of the continued investigation, 65-year-old Anthony FRIZZELL of Thunder Bay has been charged with second degree murder. The accused remains in custody with a future court date. Another individual was arrested on July 8, 2026, with the assistance of the Break, Enter, and Robbery Unit. The accused is facing an accessory after the fact to murder charge. The unnamed accused’s charges have not been read in court as they have been released under an undertaking with a future court date. The investigation remains ongoing. No further information is available at this time.

Update: Thunder Bay Police Service locate prisoner escapee from local correctional facility

TB26029085 The Thunder Bay Police Service has located an escapee from the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre. The investigation began on July 24, 2026, following a report from the Correctional Centre. Officers located and arrested the wanted individual around 1:30 AM on July 25, 2026. The Ontario Provincial Police assisted with the investigation. No further information is available at this time.
