Update: Thunder Bay Police Service sudden death investigation leads to second-degree murder charge

A Thunder Bay Police Service investigation into a sudden death on the city’s north end has resulted in a second-degree murder charge.
On December 25, 2025, officers responded to a 911 call regarding a sudden death on Regent Street.
On scene officers located a deceased man.
The Major Crime Unit became involved in the investigation.
On July 30, 2026, officers arrested a suspect at the Thunder Bay Jail.
As a result of the continued investigation, 65-year-old Anthony FRIZZELL of Thunder Bay has been charged with second degree murder.
The accused remains in custody with a future court date.
Another individual was arrested on July 8, 2026, with the assistance of the Break, Enter, and Robbery Unit.
The accused is facing an accessory after the fact to murder charge.
The unnamed accused’s charges have not been read in court as they have been released under an undertaking with a future court date.
The investigation remains ongoing.
