UPDATE: Harvard Street incident

An occurrence that prompted a significant police response concluded without incident.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Harvard Street shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13.

A male occupant refused to leave the residence and did not comply with police. Police initiated critical incident command procedures. Officers with the Primary Response Unit and Emergency Task Unit were involved in the response, along with Containment Unit officers and negotiators.

The incident was contained to the residence and there was no threat to community safety.

An adult male was safely taken into custody at about 11:15 p.m.

There is no ongoing police presence in the area.
